Why is the Respiratory Unit the furthest distance possible from the Hospital Entrance? As a patient receiving care under the Respiratory team, it is a struggle to walk through the lobby, turn right, walk to the end of that corridor, then left and right again. Brilliant service, shame the lung unit is such a long walk for people with breathing issues.

First time on a very long time I attended A&E with my 13hours of being there I was very impressed with the hospital and the doctors & nurses 10/10 thank you

Suggested improvements
Lack of communication between doctors as 1 lady doctors wanted to do blood test but failed to speak with her colleagues at appx 1pm then I ended up sitting around for hours only to be told I’m having another blood test 17.15 I could have had this blood test 4hours previously then I had to wait 2 hours for results other then that impressed with the hospital

I am answering this on behalf of my 75yr old mother who has dementia. She was recently in A&E but was not able to communicate her ailments well and it can be incredibly challenging to know what her complaint is as this tends to manifest in outbursts.it takes alot of patience. I think the staff managed her very well considering the number of other patients they have to deal with. Simply, Thank you.

I was left on a trolley bed in the middle of the AnE CDU hall from approximately 16:10 after morphine administered until 2:20am on the 30th April 2024 before I was seen by Dr Rahma. I was left in the corridor for more than 10 hours unattended to. Despite being a diabetic and requesting food and water none was given to me. I had my first wee since 11am on the 29th April at 9:10pm on the said date. A nurse finally took me to the CDU toilet and I was 10 very dehydrated. I was left with food for almost 14hours and was given food at 00:49am by the tea attendant. A very horrible experience.

Suggested improvements
Provide basic food and water especially to diabetics and constant checks etc.

From the paramedics who picked me up to the doctor who discharged me at the very end of my stay every single person who I came across had an amazing level of care for me. I was honestly quite surprised because you hear so many horror stories, but I came across so many people during my stay. Doctors, Nurses , healthcare assistants and patients escorts (not sure if this is the right term) EVERY single person treated me with kindness and dignity and honestly such a high level of care and consideration. The bedside manner was second to none and I am so extremely appreciative of the level of service I received.

Suggested improvements
Honestly nothing, it seemed busy but still received amazing care and regular updates.

The staff were nice but I had to wait 18hours to be examined. I was so stressed, tired,I couldn't stay anymore and discharged myself as I couldn't take anymore. This is unexeceptable.I will not be going there again. There was only one doctor on overnight.that is not right.

Suggested improvements
More staff.

I am filling this in on behalf of my mum, the staff in ED were great, so kind. The department was extremely busy so my mum was in a corridor receiving treatment for about 7 hours after which a bay was found for her. I can’t fault this hospital, so far my mum’s care has been wonderful. Ambulance staff were also extremely kind and caring.

Suggested improvements
Less time waiting in corridor would be nice.
